 From the Desk
of the Editor.
Well,
here we are well into another year of Scottish Rite Masonry. I am now in my seventh year of walking
with Phase IV Kidney Cancer. It has
been an interesting walk with many unexpected turns in the trail. By the grace of God I am still alive when
I have very nearly zero possibility of living this long.
Six
years ago I resigned as General Secretary of the Valley. I thought this job when with the title, I
guess I was mistaken. Even though I
hold the job of Master of Kadosh in the Valley writing the Valley News is
not my responsibility. So, why am I
still writing this newsletter?
I
have told the Valley and the Temple Board that I will continue to be the
Secretary of the Board and the Comptroller of the Board and the Valley as
long as I am well enough to do the job.
Comptroller
is not an elected or appointed position in the Valley. It is a paid position of the Scottish
Rite Temple of Bellingham, Inc. I am
responsible for doing all of the financial accounting for both the Temple
Corporation and the Valley.
The
Comptroller is also the building manager of the building, responsible for
renting our rental spaces in the building, collecting the rents, renter
relations, and maintaining the whole building.
Having
said all of that, I guess I’m writing this newsletter because what doesn’t
get done by the members as volunteers’ falls to the paid staff and that is
me. It is my hope that someone in
the Valley will want to take on the job of Editor and take it out of my
hands.
The
newsletter is a little short this time because of my medical issues. Tuesday I go into St Joseph Hospital to
have a little work done inside my heart.
Hopefully I will come out of the hospital with a normal heart rate.
